Thanks for visiting my site! I've been a frustrated potter since taking a class in college in the early '70's. A few years ago my husband brought home a gift of a set of mugs, and it struck me like an epiphany, "This is what I should be doing!" So, I took a class at the local art center, then hubby gave me a wheel for a gift. I kept practicing on weekends and in the evenings, and in 2004 I began doing local art shows. In 2005 I left my office to "do clay" full time, and I haven't looked back! My life is full of pottery , gardening, and grandchildren! I mix all my own glazes, mostly from recipes that other potters have developed, though sometimes I tweak them a little (mostly for color). I started with recipes from Mastering Cone 6 Glazes by John Hesselberth and Ron Roy. I highly recommend their book to any potter who is learning about glazes. Currently I use a lot of "Cream Rust" from Bill Van Gilder. I welcome your comments about the site or the pottery (criticism as well as compliments!). Brenda Funk Brown Dog Pottery |
